NOVA Starters Academy 2026: entrepreneurship program now accepting applications

The oldest entrepreneurship programme at NOVA University Lisbon returns for its 17th edition. NOVA Starters Academy is back in 2026 to continue fostering the entrepreneurial spirit within NOVA’s student community.

With over 15 years of history, this programme has already benefited hundreds of students, providing them with essential tools to create a start-up or develop innovative projects. Renowned for its practical and multidisciplinary approach, the course is supported by experts and faculty members from various NOVA schools, as well as professionals from the sector. The skills acquired are not only useful for those who wish to launch their own business but also for developing entrepreneurial competences that represent a competitive advantage in recruitment processes for start-ups or established companies.

Over one semester, participants will join multidisciplinary teams, attend theoretical classes and apply the knowledge gained to create a business plan, culminating in a Pitch Competition before a jury. The course is open to undergraduate, master’s and PhD students from all NOVA Schools, promoting interdisciplinarity and collaboration across different fields of knowledge. No prior training in management or business is required.

The programme runs from February to May and includes 12 in-person sessions, complemented by practical activities, visits to innovation hubs and sessions with guest speakers. Classes will be taught in English, with the possibility of online sessions if necessary. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a participation diploma and, in all NOVA Schools except FCT, recognition of 6 ECTS as an optional curricular unit.
