NOVA University Lisbon Present At The Web Summit 2023
An international event that brought together the largest technology companies in the world, highlighting the importance of innovation and start-ups in the development of society and the economy.
NOVA was once again present at the Web Summit, an internationally renowned event dedicated to technology and innovation that moves the world, which has been held annually in Lisbon since 2015.
As speakers at the “Tour des Capitales”, an initiative of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education in collaboration with the European Commission, the National Innovation Agency (ANI) and the Foundation for Science and Technology, NOVA was represented by Isabel Rocha, Vice-Rector in charge of Research, Innovation and Value Creation, and Hélder Lopes, Director of Research and Innovation. The debate focused on the transfer and valorisation of knowledge, the creation of synergies between research and industry and the role of interface bodies in this field.
Rui Silva, Intellectual Property and Knowledge Valorisation Technician took part in the panel at the Technology Transfer Offices meeting, promoted by ANI, where the topic was discussed: Innovation and Technological Valorisation towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
Also noteworthy is the participation of the EXPOSE team, through its founders Marilia Silva Paulo (NMS) and Melanie Maia (NOVA SST), who were present at the final pitch of Born from Knowledge (BfK Ideas). This is a programme organised annually by ANI, which aims to promote a culture of valuing scientific and technological knowledge in Portugal, by recognising and rewarding good practices and success stories.
In the space dedicated to the Web Summit technology fair, several startups with DNA from NOVA participated, exhibiting their projects and actively seeking new customers, investors and partners. A vibrant and dynamic environment that increased the visibility of the participants.
The next edition of the Web Summit will return to Portugal in November 2024, where NOVA University Lisbon will once again be present.
